Dra. Enitza George

Enitza-George01Dr. Enitza George is a Board Certified Family Practice Physician, a long-distance runner and an athletic trainer, native of Republic of Panama.

Enitza George, MD is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Panama in Republic of Panama. She then went on to specialize in Family Medicine at Sate University of New York, Health Science Center in Brooklyn, NY, USA. After training, Dr. George stayed on as Medical Director of the Family Care Center at SUNY- Brooklyn.

Aside from practicing medicine, Dr. George is a long-distance runner. In 2008, she became the first and only pregnant woman to have run the Panama International Marathon. She successfully completed the 26.2 mile course in seven hours, 15 minutes (7:15) under extreme conditions of heat, sun and intermittent rain. Mother and child were perfectly healthy after the race.

In addition to running, Dr. George is also a certified trainer by the International Sports Sciences Association, and a member of the American College of Sports Physicians. Currently, Dr. George´s clinical practice is focused on assisting overweight and obese patients in losing weight. Enitza-George02She prescribes diets, exercise and stress management through spirituality. As stated before, Dr. George is a medical doctor, specializing in Family Medicine. She is not a nutritionist. All her diets follow the recommendations of the United States Food and Drug Administration (USDA). She is a fervent promoter of healthy balanced nutrition and basis most of her dietary recommendations on “Chose My Plate” concept, which was revealed June 2, 2001 by First Lady Michelle Obama and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

For her many contributions in medicine and sports, Dr. Enitza George has received many honors and awards. She was named among the “Best Family Doctors in America” by the American College of Family Physicians from 2003 thru 2005.
